Award of a Master's Degree

The Department of Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a Master of Science degree to Aya Jaber Mohi, specializing in Energy Engineering, through her thesis entitled "Experimental Verification of Different Designs for Cooling Photovoltaic Cells Using Water and Phase Changeable Materials." The experimental results showed that the average temperature of the solar cell unit cooled by PCM (RT-42) wax has decreased by about 3.23 degrees Celsius compared to the standard solar cell. Also, the electrical efficiency and the output increased by an average of 8.6% and 11.31%, respectively. Further, the surface temperature decreased by about 15.27 degrees Celsius due to using the wax in conjunction with a stainless steel water tank. In addition, an average of 82.68% increased the electrical output. However, the electrical efficiency increased by 51.14%. The outcomes showed that the wax, copper, and water pipe designs could provide an overall surface temperature improvement of about 9.22 degrees Celsius on average. And the electrical output and the efficiency increased by an average of 62.09% and 36.88%, respectively.

The discussion concluded with awarding the Master of Science degree to the student with honors.
